Does God reveal secrets?
Daniel was the man.
I’ve been reading about him the last couple days.
As a young teenage boy, he was deported from his home country. (Can you imagine?) But despite the pain and bondage, he refused to let his oppressed environment shake his peace, faith, and choices.
It’s pretty extraordinary to me that because of his God-given good looks and smarts, Daniel found favor with his new ruler. Along with a few buddies, he was chosen to undergo a three-year training program in the king's court in which he excelled above all the other wise men in that huge empire. Wow!
One night, the king had a super intense dream that he couldn’t explain. It was really messing with him. He sent for all the magicians, astrologers and sorcerers in the area to ask for an interpretation. And they couldn’t give it. None of them could. In a rage, the king ordered all the wise men in his empire to be killed. That included Daniel and his buddies. But instead of going quietly, Daniel boldly asked for some face-time with the king. He was so confident that God would reveal to him what that dream meant and that their lives would be spared.
And they were.
That night, Daniel had a dream of his own. In it, God told him not only what the king’s dream meant but every detail of the dream itself. So Daniel went to the king with a powerful interpretation and some hefty assurance. The king was so overwhelmed that he fell on his face in awe and belief of the One True God. The earthly ruler blessed Daniel with wild gifts and promoted him to rule over the whole province and oversee the rest of the wise men.
I love what Daniel said after God gave him what he asked for: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness and light dwells with Him. I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of You...there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets..." (From Daniel Chapter 2)
That is your God. The same loving Father. He is the same today as He was yesterday and that means He is still in the business of revealing heavenly secrets. If He can reveal them to a brutal king and a loyal teenage boy, He can reveal them to you. What do you need some revelation on today? Ask God. And believe for the answer.
“You make known to me the path of life…” Psalm 16:11
“…having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure…” Ephesians 1:9
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting..." James 1:5-6
“But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” I Corinthians 2:10
